The objective of this work is to design a methodology for the implementation of the quality management system in the laboratories of the health faculty of the Universidad del Valle. To achieve the objective, the investigation was a descriptive type investigation, with retrospective design, non-experimental and cross-sectional, using the inspection and verification techniques; through the analysis of secondary sources such as reports of internal audits carried out to laboratories between 2016 and 2018, follow-up reports, lists of assistance to institutional training and plans of action of laboratories during the aforementioned years. This information allowed to identify the most representative aspects to elaborate the methodology. Concluding that, the frequency in the follow-up meetings, the degree of participation of the laboratory staff and the realization of action plans are significant factors that help in the effectiveness of the implementation of quality management systems; On the other hand, the quantification of compliance with the requirements of the management system makes it easier for the auditor and the auditee to monitor performance, and the decision making of senior management.
