Propuestas para el mejoramiento del transporte público en Palmira

This research aims to establish key recommendations for improvement of public transportation service in Palmira, base on the results of a survey and the analysis of theoretical backgrounds about urban transportation services. First, the survey aims to profile the most common types of users about socioeconomical level, zone, frecuency and others; in second instance, it searchs to evaluate the perception of the surveyed people and what they manifest about transportation service. Between principal theoretical backgrounds considered for this analysis highlights the researches made about transportation in Chile and Mexico and, in a closer context, the researches made about public transportation in Bogotá and Cali, important cities in Colombia. This experiences result very important to study the phenomena in the city of Palmira. The survey findings articulated with the frame of the theoretical backgrounds give as result, mainly, the urgency to renovate the communicational component between the public transportation system and the Palmira’s citizenship, who manifested, mostly, prefer another kind of service or vehicles for their displacement. Also, highlights the need to strengthen associations, improve the perception of the service and expand the buses routes to the most isolated zones.
