This article allows to identify and evaluate the effectiveness of teamwork for the correct implementation of the checklist for patient safety in outpatient surgical processes.
It has been developed through a bibliographic review, documentary of studies related to the subject, achieving an analysis in scientific research on the development and application of the checklist and teamwork. Databases Medline, Scopus, Colombian Journal of Anesthesiology were consulted.
Probabilistic sampling with simple random sampling was determined for scheduled outpatient surgical procedures in an institution's operating room in the 1-month period by 2020, of which an evaluation instrument was taken as a sample of the lists made and observed by the research staff. Over a total of 70 outpatient procedures.
The checklist requires the participation of the entire surgical team consciously and in a timely manner, it is vital the support of the team to guide or remember the circulator or "coordinator of the list " with breaks at the right time, this is how possible preventable and detectable adverse events are avoided during the times intended for it.
The results of this review show the importance of teamwork for the implementation of surgical checklists, making this a fundamental factor on the part of the entire surgical team.
