The Industry is always looking for the continuous development, evolution and improvement of its processes, in the city of Cali the FANALCA S.A.’s organization isn’t the exception. Actually, the machining plant situation shows high times of pieces fabrication in series «pin stopper» due to the methodology and operation conditions under which machining is developed in the Lagun 2600 milling machine. From this approach appears the need to improve the machining process through design and construction a device that allows doing machining operations on the pieces in series «pin stopper» in less time of operation, providing improvements to the factors, causes and consequences that influence in manufacture of the piece in addition to increasing the operation productivity. Present article proposes an approach to contribute to improvement from machining process of the piece series "pin stopper" and machining times reduction, through the design and construction a quick assembly and adjustment device based on the SMED methodology, besides to increase in the number of units (pieces) per machining cycle in less manufacturing time per piece, thus boosting productivity of the motorcycle-parts machining plant of FANALCA S.A.'s organization. In the same way, the project seeks to improve the ergonomic handling of the machining process in the Lagun 2600 milling machine, due to the fact that currently there is an overstrain and inadequate biomechanical positions that eventually affect the health of the operators, at the same time it's possible to reduce the cost overruns of the machining process by eliminating production delays, reducing the amount of man-hours and machine-hours invested in the elaboration of a production order. Finally, the proposal proposes to increase the diversity of references that can be manufactured in the Lagun 2600 milling machine.
